Overview
The 382-guest Silver Whisper, the sister ship of Silver Shadow, is a luxurious yacht-like ship that features the amenities of a five-star hotel. Silver Whisper, along with her sister ship, are designated by Silversea as being Millennium Class ships. They are larger than the first two Silversea ships (the Silver Cloud and Silver Wind), yet retain the intimacy and high level of service that the others are known for.

With an open-seating dining setup and one of the highest space per guest ratios in the cruising industry, Silver Whisper is able to provide her guests with a relaxed onboard atmosphere that's further enhanced by their top-notch service and gourmet cuisine. Like many other luxury lines, there is a nice selection of complimentary beverages available onboard Silver Whisper, including various wines, champagne, spirits, bottled water and soft drinks. Just to add to the value provided by Silversea onboard this vessel, all of the accommodations onboard are suites, and gratuities are included in the cruise fare.

Destinations & Itineraries
Silver Whisper will be featuring cruises in the following regions (subject to change, based on the cruise line's discretion):

2012: Eastern Caribbean
2013: Canada & New England, Caribbean, Northern Europe, Transatlantic

All of the accommodations onboard Silver Whisper are suites. All suites feature Pommery Champagne upon arrival, fresh fruit and flowers, a beverage cabinet stocked to your preference, European bath amenities, fine bed linens, your choice of pillow, plush robes and slippers, direct-dial telephone, vanity table with hair dryer, writing desk, walk-in wardrobe with personal safe, remote-controlled flat-screen TV with DVD and satellite reception, personalized stationary, daily news summary and twice daily suite service plus turndown nightly.

Such suites feature a large picture window (with panoramic ocean views), a sitting area, two twin beds or one queen-sized bed and a marbled bathroom (with double vanity, full-sized bath and separate shower). Some of the Vista Suites are able to accommodate up to three passengers.

A Terrace Suite is the next best accommodation onboard Silver Whisper. Such a suite has everything that a Vista Suite does, with a shaded teak veranda and floor-to-ceiling glass doors (instead of the large picture window). Some Terrace Suites can accommodate up to three guests.

The next step up in accommodations onboard Silver Whisper are her Veranda Suites, which are 345 square feet (with a 60 square foot teak veranda, with patio furniture). These suites have a sitting area, two twin beds or one queen-sized bed, as well as a marbled bathroom (with double vanity, full-sized bath and separate shower). Some Veranda suites can accommodate up to three passengers.

Dining
Silver Whisper has a single, open-seating dining setup. This means that you can dine whenever you want, with whomever you want (during the appropriate dining hours). The cuisine served onboard all of Silversea's vessels is five-star quality, inspired by the Grand Chefs of Relais & Chateaux (a prestigious association of upscale boutique hotels and restaurants). Vegetarian and lite menu options are available daily, for those desiring such selections.

The Restaurant, located mid-ship on deck 4, is the main dining room onboard Silver Whisper. This venue features "La Collection du Monde," which are signature (French) dishes created for Silversea by Relais & Chateaux. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served at The Restaurant, and on select nights an orchestra provides music for dancing.

La Terrazza, located aft on deck 7, features a selection of fine Italian cuisine, served à la carte. This venue is an indoor/outdoor cafe (with terrace dining al fresco) that features fresh ingredients and authentic Italian recipes, prepared by Silver Whisper's expert chefs.

Le Champange is a special Wine Restaurant, by Relais & Chateaux, onboard Silver Whisper (on deck 7, near La Terrazza). This venue features fine wines that are complimented by a tasting menu of regionally inspired dishes. It's an upscale six-course experience. Advance reservations for the venue may be made onboard the ship.

24-hour complimentary room service is available to all passengers. It's an excellent option for a mid-day or late night snack, or even for when you're feeling a little lazy and would rather the food come to you. The Restaurant's menu can be ordered right to your suite during that venue's dining hours, during which you have the option of being served course-by-course in your suite.

Onboard Features
Expert guest lecturers from a variety of fields (such as geography, history and politics) are featured on all most of Silver Whisper. This is a main aspect of a cruise onboard this vessel, as it adds a lot to your overall experience in the unique destinations that are visited during your cruise. On select sailings, guest chefs and wine experts take part in special Culinary Arts and Wine Series Voyages.

The Viking Cooking School is another enrichment aspect of a cruise onboard Silver Whisper. This program entertains and educated Silversea's guests with a wide range of culinary events at Silver Whisper's Viking Cooking Theatre. This program is hosted by Silversea's chefs, and sometimes expert Viking guest chefs.

The spa onboard Silver Whisper features a wide range of treatments, such as body wraps, massages and facials. There is even a full-service beauty salon in this venue. Spa appointments can be made during or prior to your cruise.

For a smaller-sized ship, there are a decent range of bars and lounges onboard Silver Whisper. The Show Lounge is the main entertainment venue, featuring a variety of shows (such as classical music concerts). The Bar features live piano music, dancing, as well as local performers and folkloric shows. Another venue that features dancing and music is The Panorama Lounge. Social Ambassadors are available onboard, who are Silversea employees that can serve as a dinner, dance or shore excursion companion for solo guests. Another perk for solo guests traveling onboard Silversea is a special Champagne Reception that's held at the start of the cruise, exclusively for solo guests.

Other activities available while onboard Silver Whisper include watching movies play out on deck during select evenings, playing in the casino (featuring slot machines, blackjack and roulette), relaxing in The Humidor (a cigar lounge with leather chairs), shopping in the boutique (that is closed while in port and sells designer jewelry, fashions and perfume), working out in the fitness center (featuring state-of-the-art equipment, saunas, steam rooms, as well as various aerobics classes), enjoying a book in the library (that also has DVDs to borrow) and sunning out on the pool deck. As far as pools go, there is one (heated) swimming pool onboard Silver Whisper, as well as two whirlpools.

The main lobby is located mid-ship on deck 5, which is where you can find the cruise consultant desk, tour desk and reception (which is where you can check your onboard account and ask the staff any questions you may have). There is a conference room on deck 7, for those that need such facilities.

Dress Code and Attire
On a Silversea cruise the onboard attire ranges from casual to formal. During the day casual resort wear is appropriate, meaning that you should wear the type of outfit that you would if you were at a resort.

There is three types of evening dress codes onboard a Silversea cruise: casual, informal and formal. Casual means open neck shirts, slacks and sports outfits. Informal means dresses or trousersuits for women, and jackets (tie optional) for men. Formal evening wear for women is an evening gown or cocktail dress, while it's a tuxedo, dinner jacket or dark suit for men. If you dine in La Terrazza on a formal night you may wear casually elegant attire (which would be a dress or trousersuit for women, and a jacket with tie optional for men).

Sailings of eight days or less will usually have two formal nights, while longer cruises usually have three or four formal nights.

Children Programs
There is not a children's program, and there are not any children's facilities onboard any of Silversea's cruise ships. Silversea doesn't allow children under one year old to book, and actually reserves the right to limit the number of children under three years of age onboard each sailing.

Tipping and Gratuities
Gratuities are included in the cruise fare for all Silversea cruises.

Alcohol Policy
The minimum drinking age on all Silversea cruise ships is 21 years old.

Gambling Policy
The minimum gambling age onboard all Silversea cruise ships is 18 years old.
