Marina, expected to be debut during January of 2011, will be the largest ship in the Oceania Cruises' fleet. She will also be the first ship that was actually built specifically for Oceania (as their three original ships, all still with the fleet, were originally part of another cruise line). She is currently under construction at Fincantieri's Sestre Ponente Shipyard in Genoa, Italy.
This vessel, along with her sister ship (Riviera, expected to debut in April of 2012), will accommodate 1,252 guests in 626 staterooms and suites, who will be served by more than 780 staff members. 96% of all accommodations onboard Marina will feature private teak verandas. Guests will dine in their choice of six open seating restaurants. Additional details on the ships' public spaces, suites and dining venues is expected to be released in the near future.
The inaugural cruise of Marina is expected to be on January 22, 2011. It will be a 13-night transatlantic cruise, from Barcelona to Miami. The next sailing will be a 18-night transcanal cruise, departing from Miami on February 8 and ending in San Francisco. An 18-night transcanal cruise in the opposite direction (San Francisco to Miami) will take place on February 26. On March 16, a 12-night Caribbean cruise will take place, sailing round trip from Miami. On March 28, a 19-night cruise will start in Miami, cross the Atlantic, and end in Barcelona on April 16.
Marina will feature 626 guest staterooms and suites. They will be categorized as follows (from most to least premium): 3 Owner's Suites, 6 Vista Suites, 10 Oceania Suites, 121 Penthouse Suites, 440 Veranda Staterooms, 20 Ocean View Staterooms and 26 Inside Staterooms.
Veranda Staterooms, at 312 square feet, will incorporate larger sitting areas than the other Oceania ships, marble-clad bathrooms with separate tub and shower, copious closet space and extra-large private verandas for relaxation.
The Penthouse Suites will be 429 square feet and feature a large living area, space for in-suite dining, separate sleeping area, extra-large bathrooms, walk-in closets and a host of other amenities.
There will be six open seating restaurants onboard Marina: The Grand Dining Room (serving Continental cuisine), Polo Grill (a steak house), Toscana (gourmet Italian), French Bistro (country French cuisine), Asian Restaurant (Asian Cuisine) and Terrace Café (serving a casual breakfast, lunch and dinner). Country club casual is the best way to describe the onboard attire typically worn by guests during an Oceania cruise. There are no formal evenings onboard an Oceania cruise, as they aim for an elegant, yet casual, atmosphere.
Oceania Cruises doesn't have any children's facilities onboard the Regatta, and doesn't have an actual children's program either. In no way does Oceania discourage children to be onboard their ships, and there will be a some families with children on most of their sailings.
Gratuities of $12.50 per person, per day is automatically added by Oceania to each passenger's onboard account. An additional $4.00 per person, per day is added for guests staying in a Penthouse, Vista or Owner's Suite (where Butler service is provided). Each guest may increase or decrease the amount charged for gratuities as they see fit (by going to the main desk before the cruise is over and requesting this to be done).
The minimum drinking age on all Oceania cruise ships is 21 years of age. Oceania may collect any alcohol purchased ashore for consumption onboard the ship.
The minimum age to gamble in the casino onboard a Oceania cruise ship is 18 years of age.
