The owners of Majestic America Line have announced that there will be no sailings on their fleet, as they are in the middle of trying to sell the entire line. We will update this fleet's details once they announce the line's future plans, if any.

Majestic America Overview
Majestic America Line was formed by the 2006 merger of the vessels of the Delta Queen Steamboat Company and of the American West Steamboat Company. Majestic America Line is a division of Ambassadors Cruise Group, LLC (part of Ambassadors International, Inc.) and is one of the premier coastal and river cruise companies in the world. In fact, Majestic America Line is the largest costal and river cruising company in the United States. The mascot of Majestic America Line is the Trumpeter Swan, as it represents this company's "proud spirit and grand size."

Their entirely US-flagged fleet can be found sailings all across the United States, from the Mississippi River to the Alaska's Inside Passage. The Majestic America Line ships are comfortable and intimate, and their concept focuses heavily on the history of the United States. In fact, one of their ships is quite historic in itself. Delta Queen is perhaps one of the most famous river cruise ships in the world, as it has been cruising since 1926.

Majestic America Destinations
Majestic America Line exclusively features coastal and river cruises. This consists of Mississippi River cruises (including the Mississippi, Ohio and Tributary rivers), cruises of Alaska's Inside Passage, and Northwest river cruises (including the Columbia and Snake rivers).

A typical Majestic America Line cruise is 7-nights in length, but they do over a few 3, 5, 10 and 11-night cruises as well. Some of their more commonly used US departure ports include Cincinnati (OH), Juneau (AK), Ketchikan (AK), Memphis (TN), New Orleans (LA), Portland (OR) and St. Paul (MN).

Because the Majestic America ships are much smaller than typical cruise ships, they are able to travel to many interesting ports that are not usually available on much larger cruise ships. For example, while in Alaska you might be able to go to an inlet or fjord that the larger cruise ships cannot get to. This allows for better itineraries, as well as more opportunities to get up close looks at the local wildlife. Another advantage of sailing on these smaller ships is that the captain is able to alter the itinerary or route if there is something very interesting going on elsewhere. For example, the route can be altered to follow wildlife migrations.

Majestic America Line offers a wide range of interesting shore excursions for their passengers. There are certain packages offered by Majestic America that include shore excursions in the pricing.

Onboard Majestic America Cruises
The Majestic America Line ships are often times described as being similar to boutique hotels. This is because each one offers a very distinct feel, while giving an intimate feeling to their passengers. Throughout the Majestic America fleet you'll find polished wood accents, with plenty of spacious and comfortable surroundings. While onboard you'll notice plenty of tastefully displayed artwork, often times reflecting the regions the ship sails in.

The staterooms onboard the Majestic America Line ships are fairly spacious (for the cruise industry), and many of the ships feature staterooms with private verandahs or large picture windows. The bedding is comfortable, with premium linens and towels available in each room. Majestic America Line features a "Sleep Options" program, which allows its guests to select the perfect pillow based on his or her personal preferences.

The Majestic America ships are operated by a friendly all-American crew. They are readily available to assist guests with whatever needs they may have.

The menus onboard each ship are inspired by the region that the ship is cruising in. For example, salmon is a popular entree while cruising in Alaska. Celebrity chef Kathy Casey has created signature American dishes that are featured throughout the Majestic America dining offerings. Prior to dinner, evenings start with what is known as "Sara Moulton's American Cocktail Party." This is a period that features American cocktails and hors d'oeuvres created by the Food Network's Sara Moulton.

When thinking of river cruises, one often thinks of lively entertainment. Majestic America does not let its guests down on that end. Each night, music, song and dance are all readily available to all passengers. After dinner you have the option of going to the main showroom to see the featured entertainer of the night.

There is a nice enrichment program in place, onboard all of the Majestic America Line ships. Each cruise has a Discovery Guide onboard - a staff member that is very knowledgeable of the particular cruise itinerary and ports that are being visited on each cruise. Discovery Guides include authors, educators, lecturers and regional experts. These guides host various presentations throughout each cruise, and provide periodic commentary throughout each cruise.

Being small river ships, the Majestic America ships do not feature many amenities and features typically found on larger ships. For example, there are no casinos, spas or fitness centers onboard any of the Majestic America ships (except the American Queen, which has a fitness center and beauty salon). Most of the ships do not have internet access either.

A typical Majestic America cruise will have an older crowd of cruisers onboard. Few, if any, children will be found onboard a Majestic America ship. Majestic America is a popular choice among travelers that want to experience (up close) what America is all about.
