Azamara Journey was the first ship in the Azamara Club Cruises fleet. Pullmantur Cruises, the original owner of this vessel, was purchsed by Royal Caribbean International, the parent company of Azamara Club Cruises. While this ship was in the Pullmantur fleet, it was known as Blue Dream. After its purchase, this ship underwent a major overhauling to update its look and add the signature style and features that an Azamara cruise ship is now known for.
Effective April 2010, gratuities are pre-paid for all guests sailing aboard Azamara Journey. Also, non-alcoholic specialty coffees, soda and water are complimentary for all guests, as is house wine during lunch and dinner.

93% of the staterooms onboard Azamara Journey have an oceanview, and 68% of the staterooms have a private verandah. Every stateroom on board Azamara Journey has complimentary bulter service, a daily fruit basket, fresh cut flowers, 24-hour room service, afternoon canapés, complimentary shoe-shine service, a plasma television, personal stationery, Elemis bathroom products, one night of complimentary specialty dining, new European bedding, and complimentary use of binoculars, umbrellas and plush robes.
Suites guests get two nights of complimentary specialty dining (rather than the one night a non-suite guest gets). Guests staying in suites also get free laundry pressing, an amenity bar, free in-room nonalcoholic specialty coffees, soda and water, afternoon tea service, expanded bathroom amenities, a free bottle of champagne...and more.
Interior Staterooms:Azamara Journey's standard interior staterooms are 158 square feet. Besides the previously mentioned features, these rooms have two lower beds that are convertible to a queen size, a refrigerator with mini-bar, thermostat-controlled air conditioning, an in-room safe, a hair dryer, and direct-dial phones with voicemail.
Oceanview Staterooms: Standard oceanview staterooms are 170 square feet, with some staterooms having portholes (category 08) and others having panorama windows with an obstructed view (category 07).
Verandah Staterooms: Deluxe oceanview staterooms are 175 square feet, with a 40 square foot private verandah (with floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors), and a sitting area with sofa bed.
Suites: There are three types of suites on this ship: Sky Suites, Royal Suites, and Penthouse Suites. The Sky Suites are 266 square feet, with a 60 square foot private verandah. Royal Suites feature a separate living room, a master bedroom, a master bath with whirlpool tub and separate shower, a guest bathroom, and a DVD/CD player. These rooms range in size from 440 to 501 square feet, with a private verandah ranging from 105 to 156 square feet. Penthouse Suites are the largest staterooms on Azamara Journey. The Penthouse Suites are 560 square feet, with a 233 square foot private verandah. These suites feature a separate living room, a master bedroom, a covertible sofa-bed, a walk-in closet, a dressing room with vanity, a master bath with whirlpool tub and separate shower, a guest bathroom, and more.
Azamara Journey features two specialty restaurants, a coffee café, and a piano and wine bar. All meals are coordinated through an "open" dining system, where you dine where you want, when you want; during the available dining times. Dinner is served between 6:00 pm and 9:30 pm in the Discoveries Dining Room. A buffet, Windows Café, is available as well.
The two optional specialty restaurants (where charges apply) are Aqualina (a Mediterranean restaurant) and Prime C (a steakhouse and seafood restaurant). Both of these premium restaurants are wonderful, offering true five-star dining experiences. As explained above, all guests are entitled to one complimentary dining at the specialty restaurant of your choice (while suite guests are entitled to two complimentary specialty dining experiences).
This ship features live entertainment (primarily consisting of singers and comedians), Michael's Club (a piano and cigar bar), a casino, the Martini Bar (offering 20 martini variations), eConnections (an internet café), and the Aquaspa® (a fabulous 10,000 square foot Spa and Wellness Center, featuring a full range of spa treatments).
Azamara Journey is decorated exquisitely throughout, featuring wonderful floral arrangements and tasteful color choices.There is one swimming pool and two whirlpools onboard this vessel. Azamara Journey features all standard cruise ship features, such as a photo lounge, shopping area, and shore excursion desk.
Onboard Azamara Journey there are two designated smoking areas. These areas are located in the aft section of the Looking Glass Lounge (on the port side), and on the starboard forward section of the Pool Deck. These areas will be designated smoking areas by signs indicating so. All other areas of the ship are non-smoking.
All Azamara Club cruise ships have a resort casual dress code, as there are no formal nights onboard an Azamara cruise. However, if you'd like to dress formally you are more than welcome to. Please be aware that tuxedo rentals are not available onboard Azamara Journey.
The following is restricted in the dining room and specialty restaurants: bare feet, tank tops, caps, bathing suits, and jeans.
Examples of resort casual dress for women includes sportswear, shorts, casual dresses, skirts, and pants. For men, resort casual includes sportswear, golf shirts, shorts, pants, and sportcoats (if desired, but not required). All of these clothing items mentioned are recommended to be made of light fabrics such as linen, cotton, silk, and wool gabardine.
There is no dedicated children's facility onboard Azamara Journey. However, there will be Sony PSP (portable Playstation) gaming systems available for rent.
There will be a Youth Staff onboard that is available for group baby-sitting, at a rate of $6 per person, per hour. The times of availablity of this service are as follows: Afternoon Party from 12 pm-2 pm, Dinner Party from 5 pm-7 pm, and a Slumber Party from 10 pm-1 am. In-stateroom baby-sitting is available, from the Housekeeping staff, and is based on limited availability.
Effective April of 2010, gratuities are now included in the pricing of all Azamara Journey cruises. However, when you purchase a beverage onboard the ship (such as a soda or alcoholic beverage), a standard 15% gratuity charge will be added to your bill at the time of your order.
The alcohol policy of Azamara Journey is the same as that of every Celebrity ship: Guests may bring up to two bottles of wine, per stateroom, during the initial embarkation of the cruise. A $25 corkage fee, per guest's own bottles, will apply in the dining rooms.
The minimum drinking age for all alcoholic beverages onboard an Azamara cruise is 21 years of age. However, on Azamara Club cruises that depart from a European or South American country, guests in the age bracket of 18 to 20 years of age are allowed to drink alcoholic beverages, if their parent is also sailing with them and they sign a waiver allowing their son/daughter to do so.
The official minimum gambling age on board Azamara Journey is 18 years old. All gaming operations are performed in U.S. currency. Shirt and shores are required in the casino, and smoking is not permitted inside the casino.
