Overview The small (21.5 square mile) city of Seward, Alaska is a popular cruise departure port for Southbound Alaska cruises and is also a frequent ending port for Northbound Alaska cruises. Although cruisers do not typically
stay in Seward too often or long, there are a few things to do and places to see. For instance, Kenai Fjords National Park contains Harding Icefield, one of the largest ice fields in the US. The Alaska SeaLife Center is an aquarium in Seward, located on the shores of Resurrection Bay.
Port Location & Parking Fees Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport (ANC) is located about 140 miles from the Port of Seward, with about 3 1/2 hour travel time between them by car/bus. Most cruisers travel between Anchorage and Seward by either coach or rail, with rail being the quicker and more expensive option. The most popular option for travelers is to purchase this ground transportation through the cruise line they're booked with.
