Overview

Mobile, the third most populated city in the US state of Alabama, is a popular cruise departure port for those that live in the surrounding area. The only cruise line that currently offers cruises departing from Mobile is Carnival Cruise Lines via their ship known as the Holiday. The cruise ship exclusively does 4 and 5 day Western Caribbean cruises.

The Port of Mobile is currently the 11th largest port in the United States. With its location on the Gulf of Mexico, Mobile has a mild subtropical climate. Mobile's summers are typically hot and humid, while its winters are usually mild and rainy.

Settled by French travelers in the early 1700's, Mobile has a rich history of Mardi Gras celebrations since that time.

The majority of those that take a cruise departing from Mobile do not typically stay in a hotel before or after the cruise. However, Mobile is a nice place with a few attractions for those that are interested.

Mobile happens to be a cultural center of the south. As such, within Mobile you'll find many historic buildings, several art museums, a professional opera, a symphony orchestra and a professional ballet company. Mobile is also known for having one of the oldest dating Mardi Gras (aka Carnival) celebrations in the United States.

One of the more popular tourist attractions in Mobile is the USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park, which features various aircrafts and exhibits.



Port Location & Parking Fees
The Port of Mobile is located about 13.5 miles from Mobile Regional Airport, with a driving time of about 30 minutes (depending on traffic).

Taxis are available at the airport. Another option is to purchase ground transfers through the cruise line.

$7 per day for regular sized vehicles. It is a secured, outdoor parking lot. Payment is due when entering the parking area.
