Overview Labadee is a port of call located in Haiti. Labadee is what is known in the cruise industry as a "private island." This is because it's actually a private resort that is leased by Royal Caribbean International. Don't let the "private island" moniker fool you, it's actually located on a peninsula in the mainland of Haiti.
Because of the business relationship that exists with Royal Caribbean, only the cruise lines that Royal Caribbean International owns port here. These lines include Azamara Cruises, Celebrity Cruises and (of course) Royal Caribbean.
Destinations Labadee is included on several Caribbean cruise itineraries offered by Azamara Cruises, Celebrity Cruises and Royal Caribbean.

Currency The official currency of Haiti is the Gourde (HTG). However, US Dollars are usually accepted in Labadee. Be aware that (just like onboard the cruise ship) any drinks you buy while in Labadee are going to be charged to your onboard account, since the resort is run by the cruise line. You'll only need cash if you buy merchandise or if you want to tip someone.
Language The official languages of Haiti are French and Haitian Creole. Since Labadee is a cruise line leased resort, all of the employees speak fluent English. The vendors in the flea market should all speak English as well.
Tourist Attractions When your cruise ship ports in Labadee you're in for a fun day, provided that the weather is good.
The cruise line will have food available while onshore, usually a selection of the same type of food that's available onboard your cruise ship.
Attractions in Labadee include a flea market, a few beaches, water sports and a zip-line. If you plan to walk through the flea market, get ready for the sellers to approach you and try to get you to buy something. If you plan to buy something at the flea market be sure to negotiate the price on all items, as you'll save money doing so. Most of the water sports are available at a cost, which will be charged to your onboard account.
Port Location The cruise ships need to anchor offshore, and use tenders to ferry passengers to and from Labadee. They drop you off right in the resort area.
