Overview St. George's, formerly known as the Town of St. George, is located in Bermuda. St. George's was actually Bermuda's first permanent settlement (in 1612) and was the third successful English settlement in the Americas. In fact, this historic town was the capital city of Bermuda until 1815.
Most of the buildings in St. George's date back to the 17th through 19th century, not showing the various updates that Hamilton, Bermuda shows today. In 2000 the town of St. George's was added to UNESCO's World Heritage List.
Since it's a British Overseas Territory, all driving is done on the left side of the road in Bermuda. Be sure not to forget that while traveling along the narrow, winding roads in town.
Like the rest of Bermuda's cruise ports, golfing and going to the beach are among the most popular things to do while in St. George's.
Destinations St. George's is included on several Bermuda cruise itineraries.

Tourist Attractions As mentioned above, the town of St. George's itself is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Not surprisingly, there is a multitude of historical sites throughout this town. Many of the historic buildings in town function as museums, bars and restaurants. One of the most interesting buildings in St. George's is St. Peter's Church, as it's the oldest Anglican church in the Western Hemisphere. The State House is the oldest building in all of Bermuda.
King's Square is the town square of St. George's, and is located in the town's center. Located in this area is the city's Town Hall and Visitors Service Bureau (where you can get bus tokens).
The Bermuda Perfumery is located at Stewart Hall in St. George's. They have been making rare perfumes since 1928, but have only been located in Stewart Hall since 2006. Free tours and samples are available. They're typically open from 9 am through 5 pm, Monday through Saturday.
A great beach in the area is Tobacco Bay. It's especially popular among snorkelers (because of the beautiful underwater coral reefs there) and cruise ship passengers. Rental gear is available there.
Golf is very popular in Bermuda. Some of the courses nearby St. George's are the St. George's Golf Club and the extremely popular Mid Ocean Golf Club (a private course built in 1921, located in Tucker's Town, that accepts visitors on certain days of the week).
Port Location Cruise ships dock at Ordinance Island in St. George's Harbour, right by King's Square. It's most popular to just walk around town, take a bus, or to rent a scooter (not recommended for someone that's never drove one before), as taxis can be quite expensive.
Ferries are typically available that travel between St. George's and Hamilton.
