Overview Hamilton, named after one of its former governors, is the capital city of Bermuda. Because of the British influence on the island, driving is done on the left side of the road. This area of the world is particular popular for its shopping, golf and beaches.
Only smaller cruise ships can actually port in Hamilton. However, if you're on a larger ship that ports in a nearby city (such as King's Wharf), there is a ferry service available to take you to the more popular Hamilton.
Destinations Hamilton is included on several Bermuda cruise itineraries.

Tourist Attractions Hamilton is quite popular for its shopping, and is very much a walking city. Front Street is a great area to do so in, as you enjoy the view and the pretty pastel-colored buildings. At night Front Street becomes quite the party area, as live music starts playing and the streets get closed off to traffic. The sidewalks become filled with concession stands and lots of dancing takes place, deep into the night.
Golfing is very popular in Bermuda. As such, there are a few 18-hole golf courses to try out. Port Royal Golf Course is a government-run public course that is one of the best on the island. In fact, it's often considered to be one of the best public courses in the world. The Fairmont Southampton Golf Club, par-54, is one of the more challenging courses on the island. It's located in Hamilton Parish.
There are quite a few beautiful beaches in the area as well. For instance, the pink-sanded Elbow Beach (located in Paget Parish) is about a mile long and is excellent for swimming. The most popular beach in Bermuda is Horseshoe Bay Beach, located in Southampton Parish. It's great for families, as there are various water sports for rent and there's a lifeguard on duty from May to September.
Renting a scooter is a popular way to get around the island, but be careful as the roads are narrow. You must be at least 16 years old to rent one.
The Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute is
located right outside of Hamilton, on East Broadway in Pembroke. It's open 364 days a year and is a great place to check out. There is a per person admission charge, but it's well worth it. This place has various exhibits, and hosts many events, to teach the public just how much there is under the water that most of us don't know anything about.
There are many parks in Hamilton. The most popular of them is probably Victoria Park, named after Queen Victoria.
Port Location Smaller cruise ships are able to dock right in downtown Hamilton, while larger ships will have to dock in King's Wharf. A ferry is available from King's Wharf to Hamilton.
If your ship does dock in Hamilton you'll be conveniently right by Front Street.
