Default Is Princess a good choice for an Alaska cruise?

Hi!

I am considering doing an Alaska cruise and heard that Princess was a pretty good choice. Is this accurate? Anyone that's been on a Princess cruise - your experience would be much appreciated!

Thanks!

Hello,

Princess is an excellent choice for an Alaska cruise. I have actually been on a Princess Alaska cruise myself and loved it! I feel that Princess offers a nice mix of quality food and service, along with a relaxed atmosphere. They are definitely one of my favorite cruise lines. Plus, Princess is particularly well known for being one of the best cruise lines doing Alaska cruises.

Just in case you're wondering, I sailed on the Island Princess on a week-long cruise known as Voyage of the Glaciers. I sailed in June and had a wonderful time. The ship departed from Vancouver and finished off in Whittier. I stayed in Anchorage for a couple of days after the cruise, which was also great. The ports that we visited while on the cruise were Ketchikan, Juneau and Skayway, and we cruised through Glacier Bay National Park and College Fjord. It was an experience I'll never forget and I highly recommend it!

I've heard good things about Princess (from friends)...never been on one of their cruises though.

I will be taking my first Princess Alaskan cruise in May (depending on Mt. Redoubt eruptions!) after sailing to Alaska previously on HAL and Celebrity.

In Alaska, I've read Princess and HAL are more experienced and have more access to Glacier Bay. I do think HAL is better in Alaska than Celebrity. JMO. Celebrity is superior for other itineraries.

So, we shall see about Princess... Have sailed Princess once previously. It was OK... no complaints, but nothing awesome either.

Putting the cruiseline aside, Alaska is just wonderful. We love every minute we are there.

Sweetie

We will be sailing this coming June, and I was wondering, how was the weather when you sailed? We're doing land tour then cruise (Whittier to Vancouver) and we sail on 6/11/11. I'm trying my best to pack light (flying to SEA from NJ) and it's driving me crazy trying to figure out how to pack for this trip!
