Default Only Seniors?

Hi,

I've heard that Holland America primarily has senior citizens on their cruises. Is this accurate? I wanted to take a cruise with my multi-generational family and was wondering if it was a good choice.

I've been on one Holland America cruise (a few years ago) and I must say that they definitely drew an older crowd. There were some younger kids onboard, but not many at all. If you have grandkids or kids that want to hang out with a bunch of people their age I wouldn't recommend this line. However, it's a great product - their food was great and service was great. I just wouldn't recommend it for kids or young people that are looking for others like them.

Holland America does attract an older crowd. However, you'll notice a wider range of ages on some of their Caribbean cruises. One of their cruises might not be the best option if you have kids and are looking for a activity-packed, comprehensive children's program. Holland's ships are great though and their food and service is top notch!

Interesting...maybe it's not for my entire family then...I'll have to think things over. Thank you though...

I think that it depends on the length of the cruise. You would probably draw an older crowd on cruises that are over 15 days, as seniors may have more time to devote to cruising. We have been on several family cruises with our DD's age 25 and 31, and have found other younger passengers onboard on the 7 and 10 day cruises. Alaska tends to draw a much younger crowd as well.
