Default Lifeboat drill - Anyone actually go?

I know this may sound stupid, but does anyone actually go to the lifeboat drill at the beginning of the cruise? I haven't been to one in years. I always see swarms of people going but figure that most of the experienced cruisers done. Yeah, not the smartest thing to do but quite honestly - you really think people are going to be following the rules if there's an emergency? Just saying that I understand why they have the drills, but kind of think they are a bit silly. Probably they just do them for liability reasons.

I've only been on one cruise and I went. Wasn't that bad really. Maybe after a bunch of cruises it gets boring though, but we had fun walking around in the life vests. We even stopped at a bar on the way back to the room, with the vests on still

We are more or less newbies to cruising, although I am an ex-Coast Guard and have cruised the Pacific for a few years way back when. The life boat drills are mandatory! Cabin stewards WILL check cabins and insist you attend. How do I know this? One of our party was feeling ill and attempted to take a little snooze during life boat dill, was awakened and escorted to proper area for drill. Even though alcohol is not recomended during drill, I had just opened a fairly spendy frothy alcoholic beverage and refused to leave it to warm, I merely stuffed it into my oversized utility shorts pocket ad brought it with me. While our life boat area representative said that drinking it was against policy, she allowed us to have a good time and allowed me a icey sip every now and again!! Carnival rocks!!!

I always go. It's not that bad, and plus - wouldn't you rather be prepared in the very unlikely even that anything happens? I sure would!

I always go - I tried not to go once and they came into the room and asked me to get out there

I've been on 16 cruises with 17 & 18 booked and I would never consider not attending the muster drill. Anyway, I thought it was mandatory and they would come hunt you down. As much of a disruption to your fun it can be, it doesn't last long and makes for a good photo op.

Absolutely Punkidoodle, the photo op is fantastic, the life boat drill photos are some of my favorites in my albulms!! Mainly due to the great attitudes at the time. Good memores!!

It is a GREAT photo op! It's always more fun when friends come that haven't been on a cruise yet. I love getting to see them walk around, usually confused, with the lifejackets on. It's a good time for sure!

I don't think its optional. So, go, enjoy it as another adventure and part of being on a cruise ship. I love not having to bring my lifevest.
