Military Discounts

Home > Cruise Discounts > Military Discounts

Military discounts on cruise prices are available on select cruise lines. Depending on the particular cruise line, they may only offer discounts for active military members. Some cruise lines do offer discounts for inactive and/or retired military as well, as long as there has been an honorable discharge.

Typically you will have to give proof of your military affiliation to your travel agent and/or cruise line while booking your cruise. Also, keep in mind that this type of promotion usually only applies to members of a branch of the United States military. Some cruise lines offer such deals for Canadian military personnel (such as Royal Caribbean - see below for more details).

This possible discount is why when you're pricing out a cruise many travel agents (and even some web sites) may ask if anyone is a member of the military - they're trying to find you the best deal possible!

Here's a list of the cruise lines that give military discounts:

Carnival Cruise Lines

Offers discounts for active, retired, reserve and honorably discharged military personnel on select 2 to 10 day sailings. The discount typically ranges from 10-50%, depending on the particular sailing. The discount is capacity controlled.

Celebrity Cruises
Celebrity offers special prices on selected sailings for military personnel. You must make your reservation through a participating SATO travel agency in order to get such a rate. Contact your Human Resources department for a list of these agencies.

Norwegian Cruise Line
NCL has a Military Appreciation Program, which offers special rates for US (and sometimes Canadian) servicemen and women. 5% discount off of the prevailing rate. 10% or more off of select sailings and categories (based on availability). Offer is capacity controlled. Active, retired, reserve and honorably discharged military personnel are eligible for this special rate. A special form must be sent to NCL in order to qualify - ask your travel agent or cruise line rep for more details. The spouse of an active military person serving duty overseas is eligible for one stateroom at the military rate; proper documentation must be brought to the pier the day of embarkation.

Royal Caribbean

Offers special rates on select sailings for military personnel. To qualify for a military rate, you must be one of the following: 1.) Active personnel currently serving in the Canadian National Defense; United States Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, National Guard or Reserves. Proper identification in the form of a United States Uniformed Services WHITE Identification Card for U.S. military personnel, and a WHITE N.D.21 Identification Card with a Red Canadian Flag displayed for Canadian National Defense personnel, must be presented at time of check-in. 2.) Retired from any of the divisions listed in requirement 1. "Retired" is defined as A) enlisted personnel or officers with a minimum of 20 years of service, B) medically retired, or C) 100% disabled. Proper identification for those classified in category A, or B must be in the form of a United States Uniformed BLUE Identification Card. Proper identification for those classified in category C is a United States Uniformed TAN Identification Card. Retired Canadian National Defense personnel are eligible and must possess the same white card as described above for active personnel. All forms of identification must be presented at time of check-in. 3.) Veterans with an Honorable Discharge serving a minimum of 2 years, or 6-months in an active war zone, in any of the United States service divisions listed above. Proper identification in the form of a DD 214, plus a current photo must be presented at time of check-in. 4.) Spouses of actively deployed, or deceased military personnel, are eligible to book one stateroom as long as the eligible spouse is occupying the stateroom. All other guests traveling in the same stateroom are also eligible for the military rate. Spouse must present the PINK Dependent Military ID upon check-in as proof of eligibility.

Remember: Military discounts may not be available on every single sailing of the cruise lines listed above. Each cruise line listed above runs special military promotions at least on select sailings, so look out for such deals when pricing around. Also, keep in mind that the military discount (when available) will only apply to the stateroom that the qualifying person affiliated with the military will be staying in. Certain special promotions and coupons may not be combinable with the special military rates.

Other cruise lines may offer military discounts. Be sure to ask prior to making a reservation!
